Food, Fun and Activities

Dear Diary

Laziness and fatigue have crept on to me, initially I thought I would be able to keep a day to day blog about my activities, but every day around 9 pm my motor simply gives out and I simply want to sleep. Collected a ton of photo's but it seems impossible now to put them down chronologically, not that anyone would notice really.

I'll try and recall as much as I can.

The day after our long journey we travelled to Telkom (which is the largest and only phone provider in Indonesia).

We went to Telkom to reactivate our internet connection. The building is quite modern for Indonesian standards, even the chairs where you had to wait were comfortable. They even provided free internet (which didn't work) and some newspapers. After awhile our number was finally called and the kind lady after the desk (who was impossible to understand due to her soft voice) gave us a small slip with the password. When exactly we would get internet was unclear maybe tonight maybe tomorrow, as they say in Indonesia time 'jam karet' is like rubber.

While driving to Malang we passed by Riverside which is a luxurious living area which was recently finished and apparently is banned from all Telkom services due to a dispute between the two parties (must be nice to be an all powerful evil company). So the lesson for today is don't piss them off if you want to use a telephone or internet that is.

While going to the Matos Mall we saw this interesting ad for a skin treatment using fish.

I paid 25.000 rupiah for a 15 minute treatment

~No better family activity then having dead skin eaten of your legs~

It was quite an interesting experience, while being 'cleaned' both of my feet were tingling (it was like my feet were going to sleep). Hard to explain, try it yourself it you dare, my feet were nice in pink when the treatment was done.

After which we had some dinner at the market in Lawang where we had some jeruk anget and nasi goreng

The jeruk anget was quite sweet and refreshing even though it is basically just orange juice with some hot water. The nasi goreng was also very nice, the only downside was that there were small bits of unidentifiable pieces of chicken in it. Mum requested without meat but according to the cook it added a bit of taste. Now in western society this wouldn't be a huge issue with chicken and all but when looking at this chicken

~Chicken carcass anyone?~

It didn't really add to the overall dining experience.

When returning back home I staked my claim on the large tv, playing White Knight Chronicles on my PlayStation 3

After a couple of days it was unanimously decided by the head of the house (aka Mum) that I should get my own TV since I was monopolizing it. So we went to Hartono (beautiful store it feels like your in Singapore for a couple of minutes) where I bought a small LG for around 4.000.000 Rupiah and I have to say it is a beauty, full HD baby!

Now I am going to spend some quality time with my darling, catch you on the flip side!
